“Paper or Plastic? – From Recyclables to Remarkable” is a hands-on arts education program for young children and early educators in Worcester’s underserved neighborhoods. It introduces accessible, tactile art forms—handmade paper making and plastic bottle sculpture—inspired by natural textures and Dale Chihuly’s soaring glass art. The program supports child development and equips educators with creative, eco-focused strategies. Projects are inclusive, multilingual, and accessible for children with disabilities and dual-language learners. Rooted in DEIA, it celebrates children’s voices and cultures, culminating in a public art exhibition that highlights early learners and promotes neighborhood-based cultural engagement.
Edward Street's 2026 children's art show, Paper or Plastic? From Recyclables to Remarkable, is no longer showing, but you can view the virtual exhibit below.
This project was generously funded by a grant from the Worcester Arts Council, a local agency, which is funded by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
