WORCESTER, MA - Edward Street welcomes three new members to its Board of Directors: Rosibel Alicea-Torres, Kayanna James and Erin Jansky. Each has been elected to a first three-year term.
Alicea-Torres brings more than 20 years of experience supporting children, families and early education programs across Central Massachusetts. She currently serves as Program Director for Children’s Services of Roxbury’s Worcester Family Child Care Program.
“I chose to serve on the Board of Edward Street as I believe in providing quality early education and care,” said Alicea-Torres. “I am passionate about advocating for our children, as they are the foundation of our future.”
James serves as District Director for State Senator Robyn Kennedy and brings experience in public service, civic engagement and community advocacy.
“I chose to join this Board because I truly believe education levels the playing field,” said James. “Investing in children means investing in the people, resources, and systems that surround them. Edward Street is an organization of action! It doesn’t just recognize the challenges facing children, families, and educators, but actively works to address them. I’m excited to lend my voice and experience to an organization committed to ensuring every child and family has access to the support, quality care, and opportunities they deserve.”
Jansky is Chief Human Resources Officer at Webster First Federal Credit Union and has extensive experience in leadership development, organizational strategy and community impact.
“I chose to join the Board of Edward Street because I care deeply about the Worcester community and the opportunities we create for children and families here,” said Jansky. “When we invest in kids and support families early on, we can change the trajectory of a child’s life in a very real and positive way.”
The organization also announced several Board leadership transitions. Eric Roldan, formerly Treasurer, has been elected Board Chair, and Katie Sullivan has been elected Treasurer.
Roldan succeeds Karen O’Neill, who recently retired from her career at Quinsigamond Community College and concluded her service on Edward Street’s Board in June. O’Neill joined the Board in 2018 and served as Board Chair during her final eight months. Edward Street thanks her for her years of leadership, advocacy and commitment to early childhood education.
Edward Street’s leadership also shares strong ties to Leadership Worcester. CEO Kim Davenport and Jansky are graduates of the Class of 2018, while Roldan, Sullivan and James are members of the Class of 2023.
Together, the new and continuing Board members bring deep community knowledge and a shared commitment to supporting young children, families and early childhood educators across Worcester.
