Worcester is on the leading edge of understanding and supporting early childhood trauma, and we are building a trauma-sensitive community. National expert Dr. Nadine Burke Harris traveled to Worcester to address a cross-sector audience of education, health, and non-profit professionals, alongside business, foundation and community leaders to discuss Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). In her presentation, "The Root of the Root", Dr. Burke Harris challenged us to re-imagine how we invest dollars in health care to screen, treat, and heal children early to avoid serious life-long health, mental health, and emotional issues.
