The Process Art approach encourages children to focus on the creative journey rather than the final product. Children use a wide range of materials and techniques to let their creative juices flow freely. This helps children find their voice and explore their emotions in a safe, healthy, and fun way.
Recently, Edward Street and four partner preschools created a Process Art program for children who have experienced trauma and often struggle to express their feelings. During the program, preschoolers created many marvelous pieces of art — and they had a lot to say about the amazing works that they produced!
Edward Street’s 2025 children’s art show, ‘Tell Me About It’ - Trauma-Informed Art Activities for Young Children, is no longer showing, but you can view the virtual exhibit below.
